Haroon Shahid, MD is a board-certified gastroenterologist with specialized expertise in advanced endoscopic procedures including non-surgical weight loss procedures. He is board-certified in Internal Medicine and in Gastroenterology/Hepatology. He completed his undergraduate education at Rutgers University. He went on to complete his medical school at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey (now known as Rutgers-New Jersey Medical School). He completed his internship and medical residency in Internal Medicine at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital. He stayed on at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital to complete his Gastroenterology fellowship and a specialized one-year Advanced Endoscopy fellowship, where he mastered the tools needed to perform endoscopic bariatric procedures. Dr. Shahid has excelled in the field of advanced endoscopy, as evidenced by the numerous research projects in which he has been involved.

Dr. Shahid was heavily involved in teaching residents and gastroenterology fellows during his tenure at Rutgers-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. He held the position of Director of Endoscopic Ultrasound from 2017-2023. He was the co-director of the 2022 Mid-Atlantic Gastrointestinal Interventional Course (MAGIC) and the inaugural Emerging Pancreatic Innovations Conference (EPIC) in New Jersey. He was a speaker at New Jersey’s first conference dedicated to endoscopic bariatric treatments: the Mid-Atlantic Bariatric Endoscopy Course (MALBEC). Dr. Shahid has performed numerous endoscopic bariatric procedures while on faculty at Rutgers-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School.

Dr. Shahid is passionate about helping his patients achieve their desired goals for which many patients are grateful. He started Reveal Weight Loss as a concierge practice to be able to spend more time with his patients. He truly believes one of the keys to successful weight loss is education. Education regarding obesity does not happen in a 15 minute appointment. This is why he will routinely spend over an hour with his patients, so they understand all of their available options to attain their weight loss goals.

Dr. Shahid was born and raised in New Jersey. He enjoys watching and playing basketball and spending time with his wife and three children.
